Omega History.

1848 Louis Brandt creates a pocket watch assembly at la Chaux-  de   Fonds, Switzerland.

1894 Louis Brandt & Fils develops the Omega “19” line Calibre, which after the company is named.

1918 Omega becomes the official watch supplier for British Royal Flying Corps and the US Army in World War I.

1932 Omega times the Olympic games for the first time in Los Angeles.

Omega launches the Marine watch with a double case, first Omega diver watch.

1939 Omega is the official supplier for the British Royal Air Force during World War II.

1948 Omega launches the Seamaster Omega range today and very desirable also known all over the world.

1952 Introduction of the Omega Constellation chronometer.

1957 Omega launches the Speedmaster moonwatch mechanical chronograph.
A very collectable watch today with lots of varients, the Professional Mark II was born following this watch which is also a vintage collectable piece.

1960 First Omega Seamaster De Ville later to become De Ville only.

1965 It was decided after much testing, to use the Omega Speedmaster chronograph as the official NASA space program watch.
1966 Omega Chronostop introduced.
1967 Creation of the Omega De Ville.

1968 Omega launches the Dynamic, a fantastic popular cult watch.
Omega times the Olympic games once again in Mexico, some special Mexico boxes were produced.

1969 July 21st the Omega Speedmaster Professional chronograph was the first ever watch worn on the moon.

1969 The Flightmaster is launched, fitted with a calibre 910, several versions of this pilots watch were launched.

1970 Omega gets Snoopy Award – Apollo 13 Mission.

1974 Omega creates the worlds first Marine chronometer watch then in 1975 American and Russian cosmonauts all wear Omega speedmaster professional watches.

1981 Omega launches the Seamaster 120M fantastic diving watch.

1982 The Omega Constellation Manhattan. The Omega Seamaster Titane.

1985 Creation of the first giant Matrix scoreboard.

1986 Nicholas Hayek – Chairman of the board of directors and Chief executive.

1993 Omega launches the Seamaster 300m chrono diver.

1994 Omega launches the worlds first self winding central tourbillon.

1995 James Bond Goldeneye film, first bond film to feature an Omega Seamaster 300m blue dial.

1998 Launch of the Speedmaster X33.

2000 Introduction of the first industrially produced Co Axial escapement in the Omega De Ville.

2004 Omega launches the St Moritz watch- De Ville Co Axial.

2005 Inspired by the Seamaster 300 from 1957, the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean is born when a year later the James Bond Casino Royale film is released in which he wears a Seamaster Planet Ocean as well as the Seamaster Professional 300m.

007 also wears both watches in Quantum of Solace.

2006 Omega releases the Ltd editions of the 1932 Pocket chronograph with original movements celebrating the return as the Official timekeeper for the Olympic games.

2007 Omega launches the new Co Axial 8500 and 8501 calibre movements.
